Carers UK – caring can be extremely complicated. The maze of rights and entitlements can be complicated. Filling in paperwork can be complicated. Getting a break can be complicated. Our feelings about caring can certainly be complicated. We’re here to make sure that no matter how complicated your query or your experience, you don’t have to care alone.
Carers Trust (UK) – we give carers a voice and highlight their work to the public. We also campaign and work with politicians and decision makers to create real change for unpaid carers throughout the UK. Campaigning is an important and powerful way of influencing change for unpaid carers. Here are our current campaigns.
The Care workers’ Charity (UK) – we provide crisis grants to people have worked in a paid role in the UK’s care sector and are involved in or support the provision of care.
GMB (trade union) – We have over 620,000 members who work in every type of job imaginable across public services and in private companies too. Our members work in full-time jobs, part-time jobs or are working while they study.

National Nurses United (U.S.) – NNU was founded in 2009 unifying three of the most active, progressive organizations in the U.S.—and the major voices of unionized nurses—in the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee, United American Nurses, and Massachusetts Nurses Association. NNU’s executive director is Bonnie Castillo, RN and its presidents are Deborah Burger, Zenei Cortez, and Jean Ross.

GSA is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging. Southern Gerontological Society – in 1979, a diverse group of professionals established a forum to share their ideas on aging. California Domestic Workers Coalition – California Domestic Worker Coalition (CDWC) is the state’s leading voice for the more than 300,000 domestic workers in California.
Chicago Coalition of Household Workers – Chicago Coalition of Household Workers (CCHW), is an organization comprised of housekeepers, nannies, housecleaners and home caregivers working collectively to improve conditions at their workplace, homes, and in the community. The motto of CCHW describes domestic work as “the work that makes all work possible.”
Domestic Workers United – founded in 2000, Domestic Workers United [DWU] is an organization of Caribbean, Latina and African nannies, housekeepers, and elderly caregivers in New York, organizing for power, respect, fair labor standards and to help build a movement to end exploitation and oppression for all. DWU is a proud founding member of the National Domestic Workers Alliance. DWU and its partners brought their power to bear in 2010 when the nation’s first Domestic Workers Bill of Rights was passed in New York.
The Illinois Domestic Workers Coalition – Illinois Domestic Workers Coalition is a group of domestic workers and grassroots leaders seeking to pass a Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights (HB4169) in Illinois. We believe that domestic workers deserve the same respect, dignity, and protection as all other workers.
Massachusetts Coalition of Domestic Workers (MCDW) – Massachusetts Coalition of Domestic Workers (MCDW) works to bring racial and social justice and dignity to all domestic workers in our state. Founded in 2010 by a Steering Committee comprised of the Brazilian Women’s Group (BWG), the Dominican Development Center (DDC), and Matahari Women’s Workers Center, the MCDW was the driving force in passing the MA Domestic Workers’ Bill of Rights (BoR) in April 2014.
Matahari Women Workers’ Center – Matahari Women Workers’ Center (“Matahari”) is a Greater Boston organization where women of color, immigrant women, and families come together as sisters, workers, and survivors to make improvements in ourselves and society and work towards justice and human rights. Our goal is to end gender-based violence and exploitation.
National Domestic Workers Alliance – NDWA is winning improved working conditions while building a powerful movement rooted in the rights and dignity of domestic workers, immigrants, women, and their families by: Working with a broad range of groups and individuals—including supporters like you—to change how we value care, women, families, and our communities; Developing women of color leaders and investing in grassroots organizations to realize their potential; Building powerful state, regional, and national campaigns for concrete change.
Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO) – Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO) es una institución internacional no-gubernamental con status asociativo en la UNESCO, creada en 1967. Actualmente, reúne 680 centros de investigación y posgrado en el campo de las ciencias sociales y las humanidades en 51 países de América Latina y otros continentes.
Cuidados de Genéro – a lo largo de este siglo se han expandido, de forma significativa, las investigaciones en torno a la temática de cuidados: elaboración de conceptos como el de organización social del cuidado, estudios sobre la configuración de la demanda y la oferta de cuidados, análisis sobre prácticas de cuidado en distintas generaciones, estudios sobre identidades de género frente a los cuidados, análisis sobre políticas públicas, abordajes en torno al encuestas sobre representaciones sociales del cuidado, entre muchos otros. Preocupaciones que, de diversas maneras, convocan a la búsqueda por una organización social de los cuidados más justa poniendo acento en la igualdad de género.
International Journal of Care and Caring – the International Journal of Care and Caring (IJCC) is a new multidisciplinary journal designed to advance scholarship and debate in the important and expanding field of care and caring. Multidisciplinary and international in scope, it publishes high quality contributions on care, caring and carers from all regions of the world.
Programa Interdisciplinario de Investigación sobre Cuidados, Familia y Bienestar – El Programa Interdisciplinario de Investigación sobre Cuidados, Familia y Bienestar (CUIFABI) surge a finales del 2013, a partir del interés científico en pensar los cuidados y su relevancia social en sociedades cada vez más tensionadas por las múltiples necesidades que se derivan de procesos y transformaciones dinámicas sociodemográficas rotuladas como la ‘crisis de los cuidados’.
Revaluing Care in the Global Economy, Duke University – the Value of Love: Global Perspectives on the Economy of Care (2019-2020) is an international, interdisciplinary project and network led by Drs. Jocelyn Olcott (Duke University) and Marija Bartl (University of Amsterdam) that brings together scholars from around the world to think critically about the value of care labor and care economies. Care labor, or the work of providing care for others, is ascribed value in many ways, whether in uncommodified forms such as motherhood and community service, semicommodified forms such as informal labor and servitude or hypercommodified forms such as the emergent platform of gig economies. Amid this diversity, care – or “love” – labor remains structurally undervalued in economies. Despite many decades of data collection, research and writing about this critical issue, debates remain fixed within paradigms of commodification either through the private sector or state-run welfare programs.
Transforming Care Network – the Transforming Care Network aims to create links and cooperation among scholars involved in social care and care policy research. One of the main aims is to connect research on care across different policy fields: early childhood education and care, care for adults with disabilities, and long-term care for frail older people.
International Labor Organization – the ILO brings together governments, employers, and workers of 187 member States, to set labour standards, develop policies and devise programmes promoting decent work for all women and men.
Nancy Folbre’s Blog – aims to engage researchers, students, journalists, and others interested in the “care sector”–an important part of our economy devoted to the direct care of others through the family, the community, the market, and the state.
Men in Care (MiC) – is a project of twelve national organisations from seven different European countries, which will help reduce barriers for men who want to become involved in caring activities. MiC aims to improve workplace conditions to promote men taking caring roles and will assess how policies and workplace cultures can change to enable men to become more active in caring for children, elderly, partners, co-workers and friends. Involving workers, trade unions, employers, and families, the project will enable men to take time to care for themselves and others.
Mesa Intersectorial de Economia del Cuidado Colombia – es un equipo de trabajo de organizaciones de la sociedad civil, instituciones académicas e instituciones políticas y de entidades del Estado, comprometidas con la formulación de un Sistema Nacional de Cuidados e incidencia en políticas públicas relacionadas con la redistribución social del cuidado en un marco de justicia de género y de derechos como un asunto estructural para el desarrollo sostenible y la construcción de la paz.
Red Pro Cuidados – la Red Pro Sistema Nacional Integrado de Cuidados (la Red), se constituyó en 2013 como iniciativa de la sociedad civil organizada. Sus inicios coincidieron con las instancias de la Rendición de Cuentas, realizadas por el gobierno, con la finalidad de monitorear el estado y el avance en la formulación de las políticas públicas sobre cuidados, y motivados por la preocupación de impulsar la concreción de esta política en Uruguay.

There are so many of us doing this work, but we’re not talking to each other. We’re just trying to keep it together. This podcast is a platform for that conversation. The Turban Project – this is a ministry started by the women of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Assembly #0830. We have grown to include angel volunteers from all religions, ages, and walks of life. We’ve expanded and now include satellite projects in every state the US and 11 internationally. We stock 50 hospitals and have created and donated over 147,962 turbans, courage caps, beanies, crochet/knit hats, and reusable medical face masks since June of 2012.

Desde entonces empezamos a construir un lugar propio de convivencia, pero sobre todo de aprendizaje sobre ser mujer, trabajadora y empleada del hogar, en un contexto donde nuestro trabajo, el trabajo del hogar, no es valorado ni reconocido.

Federación Nacional de Trabajadoras del Hogar en Bolivia – somos una organización de base sindical sin fines de lucro que agrupa a todas las trabajadoras y trabajadores asalariados del hogar de Bolivia. Un/a trabajadora del hogar es toda persona que realiza trabajos de cocina, limpieza, lavandería, cuidados de niños y otros servicios dentro de una casa particular y que recibe un salario por realizar este trabajo. Estamos organizadas en sindicatos y organizaciones a nivel nacional con el fin de hacer respetar nuestros derechos humanos y laborarles.
